Monkey's Paw

First, I referenced my own hand and used the brush tool to sketch out the general shape of a monkey’s paw.

I added many ghostly hands around the monkey’s paw to better express its eerie nature.

I created two solid-colored circles, then clicked “Object - Blend - Make.” After that, I clicked “Effect - Distort & Transform - Roughen” and adjusted the parameters to achieve this fuzzy texture.

Next, I added a dark red background to make the overall image appear more eerie and give it a stronger sense of unease.

Then, I added colors that match the background to the ghostly hands in the foreground, so they wouldn’t appear too jarring and would avoid overshadowing the central focus on the monkey’s paw.

Next, I colored the remaining ghostly hands, paying attention to the color differentiation and the spatial relationship between the foreground and background. I also added Gaussian blur and radial blur to make the overall image appear more harmonious.

These are all sketches I drew on the tablet and then went to the AI to redraw the lines.

Then I added a lot of decorations behind each scene that fit the picture and theme.

In the process of coloring, I used many shapes to form a picture, and added wood grain effect on the table to reflect the texture of the wood table. The general direction of the background is mainly dark color, which is more appropriate to the content of the story.

Here I changed the color of the face of the man facing away in the second scene, otherwise it would be too strange. In the first scene, red pupils and shadows on one side of the face were used to highlight White's greed and the effects of being cursed by a monkey's paw.

After doing all this, I used Photoshop to make these scene animations into GIFs so that they could move in some specific places to make the picture look more flexible.
